CTI Process Powers Tunacor’s Seafood Excellence: Advanced Freezing Solutions for Namibia’s Leading Fish Processor
CTI Process has partnered with Tunacor Fisheries, Namibia’s largest and most advanced fish processor, to deliver state-of-the-art spiral and tunnel freezers. This collaboration boosts Tunacor’s capacity to produce premium trout and sea fish fillets for global markets, setting new standards for quality, efficiency, and sustainability in African seafood processing.
Tunacor Fisheries Ltd, based in Walvis Bay, is a flagship of Namibia’s thriving fish processing sector. Founded in 1958, Tunacor has grown into the country’s largest fishing company, operating a fleet of 15 vessels (12 trawlers and 3 long liners) and employing over 2,100 skilled staff. The company processes an estimated 50,000–100,000 tons of seafood annually, focusing on value-added products like hake, horse mackerel, trout, and pilchard fillets. Tunacor’s commitment to quality is reflected in its international certifications (including MSC) and its strong presence in premium export markets, especially the EU and SADC regions.
The Partnership: CTI Process & Tunacor
Recognizing the need for advanced freezing technology to meet growing demand and strict export standards, Tunacor selected CTI Process as its equipment partner. CTI Process, a Danish leader in food processing technology, supplied two high-performance systems:
- CTI-T500 Tunnel Freezer (500 kg/h): Ideal for rapid, uniform freezing of trout and sea fish fillets.
- CTI-S1500 Spiral Freezer (1.5T/h): Designed for high-capacity, continuous processing with superior product quality retention.
This dual-freezer solution was tailored to Tunacor’s operational scale, product diversity, and market ambitions.
